Congress formalizes authorization for José Jerí to travel to Ecuador

He Congress of the Republic published in the official newspaper El Peruano the approved authorization for the president José Jerí trip to Ecuador on December 12. The president will participate in the Presidential Meeting with his Ecuadorian counterpart, Daniel Noboa, and in the XVI Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet, which will take place in Quito.

Legislative resolution No. 32517 was published in an extraordinary edition of the legal standards bulletin. The document mentions that the head of state will remain in charge of the Presidency’s office, through digital technologies.

The authorization was approved by a majority on December 3, following the request presented by the Executive, which highlighted the strategic importance of the link with Ecuador. Given this, the government considers that our country should be represented at the highest level of the State. In that sense, the head of state will be in the northern neighbor on December 12.

This will be President José Jerí’s first official trip since he took office on October 10. Weeks ago, Prime Minister Ernesto Álvarez Miranda represented the president in Bolivia during the investiture ceremony of Rodrigo Paz as the new head of state of the highland country. On that occasion, the head of the cabinet held a meeting with the new Bolivian president.

Although Jerí decided not to travel to La Paz, he maintained virtual contact with his Bolivian counterpart before the inauguration, an instance in which both leaders agreed on the need to establish the foundations for a new stage in bilateral relations.
