Between mountains, water and nature, a tourism project drives the growth of green tourism.
News Colombia.
Colombia is a privileged country due to its geography. From the beaches of the Caribbean to the Andean moors, passing through jungles, rivers and mountains, the national territory has been consolidating itself as a magnet for travelers seeking real contact with nature. In recent years, places that previously went unnoticed have gained strength thanks to their landscapes, their tranquility and the diversity of experiences they offer.
In this growing map of emerging destinations, Boyacá has managed to stand out. This department, known for its colonial architecture, its picturesque towns and its cultural traditions, today adds a new attribute that seduces visitors from all over: its enormous natural wealth. There, tourism projects have highlighted scenarios that combine adventure, silence, fresh air and views that seem straight out of a postcard.
Municipalities such as Villa de Leyva, Paipa, Tota and Ráquira have been benchmarks for years. However, other areas of the department have begun to shine on their own, driven by local initiatives that seek to show the beauty of the territory beyond traditional destinations.
The Miner’s Hand in Boyacá
One of those places that steals the attention today is La Mano del Minero, a tourist attraction that has been growing in popularity and is already emerging as one of the most striking places in eastern Boyacá.
According to information published by tourism websites such as GoBoy, Turismo por Boyacá, La Mano del Minero is a project located in the municipality of Macanal, Boyacá, which seeks to offer a unique experience in connection with nature. It is a structure that represents the hand of a mining worker, rising above a landscape surrounded by mountains, water and vegetation.
This attraction was born in the area of the La Esmeralda Reservoir, also known as Chivor Dam, a key scenario for the generation of hydroelectric energy in the region. There, the emerald color of the water mixes with the mountainous relief, creating one of the most striking panoramas of the department.
One of the attractions that stand out the most in this place are its seven waterfalls, which can be seen at different times of the year. From “La Mano del Minero” they offer a boat tour of the reservoir so that visitors can admire the majesty of the water falls. On the official networks of La Mano del Minero they offer entry to this place plus the waterfall tour for a value of 50 thousand pesos.
In addition, the experience includes a viewpoint in the shape of a hand holding an emerald—a typical symbol of the region—from where you can get an incredible view of the reservoir. There are also figures of elves, animals and other sculptures ideal for photographs, as well as attractions designed for those looking to experience a moment full of adrenaline.
