Haiti demands diligence and transparency in investigation into Stephora's death

The Presidential Transition Council of Haiti (CPT) urged the Dominican authorities to act with diligence and transparency to clarify the death of Stephora Anne-Mircie Josephwhich occurred on November 14 in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

Through a statement published on its X account (before Twitter), the Council reaffirmed its commitment to fundamental rights, procedural guarantees and human dignity.

Furthermore, he expressed his willingness to collaborate with the Dominican authorities, through the established mechanisms, in any initiative aimed at clarifying the facts, guaranteeing impartial justice and equitably protecting the rights of all.

Likewise, the CPT highlighted the work of the diplomatic and consular missions of Haiti, which have provided constant support to the family and maintain active monitoring of the case.

The organization regretted that supposedly in recent months “Thousands of Haitian migrants and families of Haitian origin have been affected by acts of violence or treatment that violates their dignity“, and stressed that these situations require responsible and coordinated responsesrespecting the sovereignty of both States.

Estephora Anne-Marcie Joseph Raphael11 years old, drowned when she was part of an excursion organized by the Leonardo da Vinci school, the educational center where she was studying.

The authorities closed the farm where an 11-year-old girl drowned, after determining that the place did not meet the minimum safety requirements established by law.
