Cali’s ‘Street of Flavor’ will be relocated due to infrastructure and security risks, moving to a new point in the city.
In recent years, the capital of Valle del Cauca has added a new attraction for lovers of salsa and rumba: the ‘Street of Flavor’ is the name of this space located in the center of Cali, which will move in the coming days.
In a press conference headed by the Secretary of Economic Development of the city, Mabel Lara, the announcement was made in which the change of site was made official, this was motivated by security and risk management issues.
“Recognizing the ‘Calle del Sabor’ as a place that was born, starting in 2021, where some friends gathered to play music and meet to dance in public spaces has been challenging, especially due to the vision of security for citizens and visitors, but without a doubt also the recognition of the Calle del Sabor Corporation that has made this a living heritage, a salsa heritage in an interesting bet,” said the official.

He pointed out that, during the last few days, a series of risks were identified in the infrastructure of several buildings adjacent to the place where this activity was carried out, which has become an attraction for locals and visitors.
“We make a modification for the infrastructure risks that are in place and we moved it to Calle 11 between Carreras 3 and 4 so that visitors and salseros can enjoy a ‘Street of Flavor’ that meets all the mobility, security and belonging requirements,” highlighted Mabel Lara.
For his part, Brayan Medina, legal representative of the Calle de la Salsa y Sabor Cali Corporation, pointed out that this space has established itself as a new attraction for all dance lovers, who in this new location will also be able to enjoy and contribute to the renewal of the historic center of Cali.

“We remind you, we only changed locations because the experience will not only be the same, it’s going to get better taking into account that we are going to have service areas and we are going to enjoy a totally improved experience,” he stated.
While Jorge Moreno, Undersecretary of Inspection, Surveillance and Control of the Ministry of Security and Justice, emphasized the control operations that have been implemented to ensure compliance with the regulations in force at the time of carrying out the ‘Street of Flavor’ in its new space.
“From the Ministry of Security and Justice we have been directly linked to this pilot project of the ‘Calle del Sabor’, we have linked street vendors, we have also worked with merchants in the area guaranteeing the compliance with all permits so that we can make an appropriate call and thus enjoy this place,” he said.
He added that one of the duties of the Administration is to guarantee respect for the rights of other citizens and inhabitants of the city, who are alien to the experience.
