“Without thinking I ran away”: patrol officer who saved the life of a girl who fell into a pool

An act of bravery and humanity starred in the institutional day for Disability Day in La Pintada, Antioquiawhere a National Police patrol boat saved the life of a minor who accidentally fell into a pool during a recreational activity. The event occurred in the middle of an event aimed at the disabled population, when a cry for help alerted those present about the emergency situation.

The uniformed woman, identified as Patrol boat Stefanny Zapataattached to the Childhood and Adolescent Protection Group, did not hesitate for a second when she saw the girl in danger. In an instinctive reaction and risking his own safety, he jumped into the water to bring her to the surface, managing to rescue her in a matter of seconds. His intervention was crucial to avoid a fatal outcome.

After removing her from the pool, the patrol vehicle immediately began first aid maneuverskeeping her stable until the arrival of the medical personnel who attended the emergency. Thanks to their quick response, the minor is out of danger and recovering satisfactorily, according to local authorities.

Zapata’s heroic gesture quickly went viral on social networks, where citizens and police communities highlighted the dedication, vocation and sensitivity of the uniformed personnel. For many, their action represents the real commitment of police officers who work directly with children and adolescents, especially in areas where inclusion activities require special care.

An additional fact that caught our attention is that, only the June 10patrol officer Stefanny Zapata had announced her arrival in La Pintada as a member of the Children and Adolescents Police.
