The measure responds to a request from militants who denounced irregularities in the internal organization of the group led by Alfonso López Chau.

The court concluded that there was sufficient evidence to believe that the party’s internal decisions affected the constitutionally recognized right to participate, elect and be elected. The measure also forces the party’s National Electoral Tribunal to refrain from advancing any procedure related to its internal affairs. The magistrate warned that failure to comply could lead to criminal liability for disobedience to authority.
