Pro Consumidor reports only five cases during Black Friday

The National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumer) reported that during the recent Black Friday only received two claims and three complaints linked to commercial offers, an indicator that, according to the institutiondemonstrates the effectiveness of surveillance operation previously deployed throughout the country.

The executive director of Pro Consumer, Eddy Alcantaraexplained that four of the five cases recorded were classified as non-conformitiesand none were related to false advertising nor with inappropriate offers.

“These results reflect the positive impact of the prior surveillance day carried out for five weeks in the main provinces of the country, as well as the operations carried out throughout the weekend,” he stated.

Alcántara highlighted that the preventive strategy applied in recent years has contributed to eliminating the false advertising during the dates of greatest commercial activity. He recalled that in 2022, 2023 and 2024 no complaints or claims were received for this concept either. “Thanks to this procedure implemented in this administration, it could be said that the false advertising on the days of greatest commercial flow,” he said.

During the Black Friday, Offers reached up to 70% offand the entity’s inspectors verified that the published prices corresponded to the previous real costs of the items in greatest demand, especially household appliances.
