They had been looking for her intensely since last Sunday after having attended a women’s soccer championship at the Orcotuna district stadium. Her teammates said that that day Mayumi Mejía Enrique (17) did not wear the starting jersey due to an obvious bad emotional state. No one would imagine that that day they would see her alive for the last time.
At around 10:30 in the morning this Wednesday, parents of the EI Enrique Gomez Espinoza from the Yauyos district were horrified to discover that the young student of the promotion was found lifeless, in the middle of an agricultural field located 500 meters from the Mario Gutiérrez López Institute stadium.
Police from the Orcotuna Police Station, together with criminal experts from Huancayo, led by the criminal prosecutor of the province of Concepción, July Mejía, carried out the procedures to remove the body, finding no signs of violence that indicate a possible crime.
At the scene, father Roberto Mejía starred in dramatic scenes of pain, who asked the authorities for an exhaustive investigation, since according to some friends, the victim had had an argument with his partner hours before the fatal outcome.
She was an outstanding athlete
Mayumi was known in sports settings as the “Golden Left-Handed” for her powerful shots on goal, most of which turned into goals.
She was part of the Sudamericano Sports Club, allowing her to improve her skills and aspire to become a national team player in the future. She was excited to finish high school and celebrate her promotion party in the coming days.
The mayor of the Yauyos district, Edgar Guillén Huamán, arrived at the place to accompany the relatives in their mourning and deliver a coffin purchased at his own expense. The mayor pointed out that the Municipality approved the donation of land in the district cemetery to give him a Christian burial.
