Santo Domingo. The Ministry of Defense (MIDE) began this Tuesday the delivery of the “Salary Check per Year” to the soldiers recently transferred to the honorable status of retirement, fulfilling the previous announcement and reaffirming their commitment to dignify those who dedicated decades of service to the defense and security of the Dominican Republic.
The delivery marks a significant step in the social protection of retired military personnel.
The activity was carried out at the facilities of the Social Security Institute of the Armed Forces (ISSFFAA), headed by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofretogether with the director of the ISSFFAA, rear admiral Henry Antonio Guzmán Taveras.
During the event, the head of the MIDE highlighted that this payment is not a gift, but an acquired right in accordance with article 169 of Law 139-13, which establishes compensation according to years of service within the Comprehensive Social Security System of the Armed Forces.

Fernández Onofre explained that the benefit comes from the contributions made by the soldiers themselves during their active life in the institution.
Law, honor and responsibility
The minister pointed out that this delivery constitutes not only legal compliance, but also a moral obligation towards those who held the National Flag with honor and embodied discipline, values and spirit of service.
He stressed that these actions represent an exercise in transparency and respect towards retirees, and reiterated that military social security will continue to be strengthened under his management.
He assured that the institutional commitment is to guarantee that both active and retired personnel have protection, support and fully assured rights.
The minister also recognized the efforts of the ISSFFAA to organize the process with efficiency and clarity, and apologized for the waiting time recorded.
Organized and ongoing process
MIDE reported that delivery will continue according to the established schedule, in order to ensure that each beneficiary receives their compensation in an orderly and timely manner.
The authorities reiterated that these days are part of an institutional vision aimed at honoring those who served the Homeland with absolute dedication.
They stressed that guaranteeing a dignified retirement is an essential part of strengthening the military social security system.
The ministry reaffirmed that these types of initiatives will continue to expand to ensure stability and recognition to the men and women who gave their lives to military service.
