INAC clarifies situation regarding air operations and denies rumors

Maiquetía International Airport continues to operate despite Trump's announcement

The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) spoke out this Tuesday to clarify the circulation of false information about restrictions on civil flights in Venezuela.

He body He assured that there is no official statement “that indicates the total prohibition of operations,” and denied the versions that indicated that the limitations would be in force until March 2026.

Through his Instagram account he emphasized that he “continues working to comply with international regulations” and that he maintains constant supervision of all air operations within the country.

The publication, which was also shared by the Ministry of Transportation, comes at a time of geopolitical tension after the American president, Donald Trump announced the total closure of Venezuelan airspace for US aircraft, citing reasons of national security and military operations in the Caribbean.

Although the United States cannot legally close another country’s airspace, it can prohibit its operators from flying over it, which has indirect effects on global aviation.

Given this, several airlines, such as Air Europa, have canceled flights to and from Caracas, including the December 2 frequencies, due to uncertainty and safety warnings. Passengers are waiting for new guidelines from European and Latin American aeronautical authorities.
