Campaign to fight HIV, day will be held at the neighborhood fair in Barrio Modelo
Last December 1, the International Day to Fight HIV/AIDS was commemorated and for this reason, the Departmental Health Directorate of Cerro Largo is promoting an investigation and at the same time awareness and information about the disease.
Detected in time and strictly following medical treatments allows the development of a normal life.
“We saw the opportunity to carry out community HIV detection activities because the sooner we detect this disease, the sooner treatments can begin” highlighted the Licensed Liliana Denis.
“Today, with pharmaceutical technology, it is possible to have undetectable loads in people who suffer from HIV, so it is no longer transmissible if the carrier complies with antiretroviral treatment and medical controls.” he assured.
“This commitment that we are making from the Ministry of Public Health is to detect, to work more in the populations, to implement the rapid test that is done with a drop of blood, so that people are not afraid to do it and if they are positive they will have a treatment that will accompany them throughout their lives that will allow them to have the same quality of life as a person who does not suffer from this disease.” said the Departmental Director of Health at a press conference.
He recalled that it was a disease that was highly stigmatized at the population level.
Denis called to enjoy sexuality, but using barriers to prevent the spread of all sexually transmitted diseases, both male and female condoms. “We must also test ourselves to really know if we have this infection to start treatments in a timely manner” held.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITY
“For next Friday, December 5, we are organizing an activity that will take place at the Ruta 26 Fair (Model Neighborhood) from hour 9” announced the Graduate Andrea Rivero.
“The rapid tests will be performed there, which are also 100% safe. They detect HIV, but also syphilis.” he stressed.
“In addition, we will also be working on prevention with barrier methods. Both female and male condoms will be provided free of charge.” reported.
The population will be able to come to any of the stands to make inquiries, places where brochures with abundant information about this disease will be distributed. “All people will be duly trained to answer any concerns or questions on this topic” stated Andrea Rivero.
TALKS IN POLYCLINICS
The Dr. Sandra Dos Santos confirmed that on Friday the 5th, first thing in the morning – between approximately 8 and 10 am – there will be talks on what the AIDS disease is, the terminal stage of HIV infection.
“At the Barrio Hipódromo Polyclinic we are going to hold an awareness talk aimed at all residents. We are going to do the same at the Barrio Feder Polyclinic along with the tests that will be available” he counted.
According to provisions of the Ministry of Public Health, the Network of Polyclinics throughout the country will have access to these rapid tests for the detection of syphilis and HIV. “They will be done to those people who present any symptoms that the doctor considers must be done or that the user suggests wanting to have it done, it will be available” he stated.
