Ultra-right used Citgo resources to finance violent actions

After announcing Venezuela’s rejection of the illegal sale of Citgo On behalf of the United States Government, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, denounced that the Venezuelan far-right used the resources of this PDVSA subsidiary to finance violent actions with the aim of destabilizing the country.

«Citgo was taken over by extremism, posing as the Government of Venezuela since 2019 and that company generated approximately between 4 billion and 5 billion dollars every year (…) not only are we losing 12 billion dollars, but since 2019 they have accumulated 24 billion dollars in dividends. What have they done with that money? “They have stolen it,” Rodríguez said.

Likewise, he highlighted that these resources were used to give money to Juan Guaidó and Dinorah Figuera, whom he accused of being part of a “criminal organized crime gang to steal assets and deliver them to a foreign government.”

In that sense, he reiterated that Citgo’s resources were used to destabilize Venezuela, “they used it for violence in Venezuela with extremist groups and by fascist groups.”

Name of those responsible for the theft

Vice President Delcy Rodríguez announced some names of those responsible for “the theft” of Citgo, who held positions illegally, on behalf of Venezuela, although they really responded to their own interests.

Such is the case of José Ignacio Hernández, who presented himself in the United States as a “procurator” or lawyer for Venezuela, but is really part of the illegitimate and fraudulent government of Juan Guaidó.

While Luisa Palacios, Carlos Jordán, Édgar Rincón, Luis Urdaneta, Ángel Almeta, Andrés Eloy Padilla, Carlos Pobdal, Luis Yusti, José Ramón Pocaterra, are some of those who have served as Citgo’s Board of Directors since 2019.

Additionally, the vice president recalled that many of these names are “oil people”, the same ones who promoted the coup against Commander Hugo Chávez and who promoted the oil strike.

The same actors who want to deliver resources to the US

In this regard, he highlighted that these actors who stole Citgo’s resources are the same ones who want to hand over the natural reserves to the United States and for that reason alone, they want to obtain political power in Venezuela.

«It is the same as the current actors (…) promising the United States Government to deliver the largest oil reserves in the world, the largest reserves of gas on the planet, of gold, of minerals. “This is what they have promised, they want to access political power to execute these plans,” he stated.

Finally, Rodríguez emphasized that “justice will be done and those responsible will pay before the Venezuelan justice system and there will be international responsibility for this theft and blatant dispossession of a valuable resource of Venezuelans, such as Citgo.”
