A driver and three other women make up the first team of women waste collectors that will perform functions in the Alto Comedero neighborhood of San Salvador de Jujuy.
The initiative of the employees was promoted by the Municipal delegation of the neighborhood High Troughlocated in the southern access of the capital of Jujuy, and join fourteen other teams of men who provide waste collection services.
Anahi Valdiviezowho will serve as the first driver to provide services in different spaces in San Salvador, was grateful to have the opportunity to perform the task on equal terms with men, “to show that women can also perform the same work” , Held.

To kick things off, the activists conducted training under the premise that there is “no difference with the men, because they are going to do the same tasks, the same route and the same work as the rest of the teams,” authorities assured.
The first women’s gang that will deal with waste collection will be “door-to-door and home collection, but it is expected and they are working so that they are also part of differentiated collection, specifically with recycling and green points,” they detailed.
The brand new team was presented this Monday in the central building of the Municipality of San Salvador de Jujuy, in the presence of the Secretary of Government, Gastón Millón; the director of the Alto Comedero Delegation, Roberto Soraide; the deputy director of the delegation, Blanca Ontiveros and Martin Molina, from the Public Services area of the delegation.
