Venezuela reauthorizes Trump's migrant deportation flights

Venezuela reported this Tuesday that it reauthorized the US flights to deport migrantsdays after having suspended them due to the president’s warning donald trump of the “total closure” of Venezuelan airspace.

The arrival of US planes with undocumented Venezuelans continued regularly despite the tension between both countries over the Trump military deployment in the Caribbean.

The president assures that it is an operation to combat drug traffickingalthough his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro He assures that the objective is to remove him from power and seize the country’s oil wealth.

The Venezuelan aeronautical authority “has received the request from the United States government to resume repatriation flights of Venezuelan migrants from that country to Venezuela,” indicated a statement from the Ministry of Transportation.

“By instructions of President Nicolás Maduro, aircraft are authorized to enter our airspace.”

Caracas will allow the entry of two flights from the American company Eastern Airlines on Wednesday and Friday.

Immigration is a flagship issue of the Trump government.

The American held a meeting on Monday with his Homeland Security team to talk about Venezuela. On Sunday he confirmed a telephone conversation with Maduro, of which he did not give details.

Some 75 flights with deportees were made this year, with at least 13,956 Venezuelans deported from the United States, according to the Venezuelan government.
