The current minimum wage accumulates a recovery in its purchasing power of 129.4% at the national level and 245.5% in the Northern Border Free Zone (ZLFN) between December 2018 and October 2024, going from 88.36 to 278.80 pesos per day.
With these amounts it is possible to buy 1.78 basic baskets in the General Minimum Wage Zone (ZSMG). The Federal Government’s objective is to achieve coverage of 2.5 baskets by 2030.
Conasami prepares negotiations for the minimum wage
Last week, Conasami held its last Ordinary Session of the year, with which a Permanent Session was installed for the deliberation of proposals brought forward by the main sectors.
Among the positions, that of the labor sector stands out, who ask for an equivalent increase of up to 30.6%, which would lead to an increase from 278.80 to 362.34 pesos per day.
According to specialists, the increase could be 11% compared to 2025, which would mean rising to 309.5 pesos per day. Banamex analysts reported that raising it can improve poverty metrics without generating adverse effects on inflation, but it also represents a challenge for small and medium-sized companies.
“(The increase in the minimum wage) increases the cost burden for companies, discouraging job creation and putting pressure on final prices,” the bank said.
However, there are different positions that must be submitted for the final discussion. The sessions to establish the minimum wages that will govern next year will be headed by Luis Felipe Munguía, president of Conasami.

How do you decide how much to increase your salary?
To decide the minimum wage, an annual process is required. From January to October, the Council of Representatives of Conasami, made up of the labor sector, employers and the Government, meets once a month to analyze reports and studies prepared by the Technical Directorate.
The Technical Directorate is a group of economists who analyze the country’s economic and labor indicators. Some of these tools are available on the Conasami site, such as the Evolution of the Minimum Wage
In November, a permanent session is set up to reach consensus on the amount. The objective is for it to be a salary that dignifies the working conditions of the workers, while preserving the economic stability of the country.
