The leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Abel Martinezruled on the death of the minor Stephora Anne-Mircie Joseph, 11 years old, which occurred during a school excursionin the province Santiagoand claimed that the school where the girl studied assume responsibilities and provide explanations transparent to the family and society.
“The tragedy of the little girl Stephora Anne-Mircie Joseph has shocked an entire country. Not only because of the innocence taken away, but because of the feeling of impotence to know that such a small life depended on care basic that they simply failed,” said the former mayor of Santiago through your X account.
Martínez emphasized the pain faced by the minor’s mother, who claims have not yet received precise information about what happened on the day of the incident.
“The deepest pain is not seen in the headlines: his mother carries him. “The irreparable emptiness of someone who not only lost his daughter, but also still has no clear answers about what really happened.”
“Tell the complete truth”
The political leader pointed out that the educational center involved is one of the most important in the city, but stressed that prestige cannot be a shield in the face of such a serious situation: “Society expects a clear and human gesture: acknowledge that they failedask for forgiveness and tell the complete truth.”
Martínez insisted that he does not seek to harm the educational institution, but rather that justice is done and similar tragedies are avoided in the future: “This is not about revenge. It’s about justice“, of responsibility and respect for the life of a girl who should never have died like this.”
Likewise, he warned that remaining silent only increases anxiety of the family and public outrage.

Right to the truth
The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) ordered further investigations to determine the circumstances and possible responsibilities in the death of Stephora, who died drowned in a pool during an excursion at Hacienda Los Caballos, located in the Gurabo municipality, north of Santiago.
While the girl’s family, social organizations and public figures continue their clamor for answers, Abel Martinez stated that the truth is essential to honor the memory of the minor and protect other students:
“Society has the right to the truthand the truth is the first step so that a tragedy like this does not happen again.”
