Luis Galarretasecretary general of Popular Force (PF)declared about the report that denounced workers of the Congresslinked to the Fujimori party, for carrying out party activities at the group’s premises during working hours.
Galarreta denied the existence of “ghost workers” and defended the employees, ensuring that it is the nature of the positions held by the staff.
The Fujimori leader explained that the designated employees, such as Jorge Llerena Portugal and Geraly Ulloa Depaz, are “trusted workers”, a labor figure that, according to his interpretation, is not subject to rigid schedules. He argued that trust work often involves working longer hours than service personnel with fixed hours and that, therefore, there is no illegality in a congressman instructing them to go to party headquarters.
“If I have a worker and I say ‘I need you to go to the game to coordinate with other people’ it is because it is part of the job here and around the world,” he stated on Canal N.
Galarreta addressed the specific cases presented by the report, such as that of Congresswoman Auristela Obando, who initially denied knowing her worker. The FP spokesperson pointed out that the congresswoman herself later “recanted” and acknowledged it. Regarding the worker Geraly Ulloa, who is not known in the VRAEM Commission, Galarreta suggested that this situation is due to the fact that plant personnel do not always know trusted personnel.
Secretary General of said party defended Ulloa’s refusal to give explanations to the reporter, indicating that there is an internal circular from Congress that prohibits workers and officials from offering opinions or interviews to the media.
He insisted that, as long as employees are not at “leisure, on the beach, in their restaurant, doing business,” but rather carrying out a political coordination task commissioned by their boss, they are within the legal framework.
