A far-reaching academic project will mark a new chapter in the country’s coffee history. The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, announced the creation of the Coffee University (Unicafé), aimed at strengthening scientific and technical training linked to coffee cultivation.
The head of state indicated that this study house will be located in the Boconó municipality, Trujillo state, with a space of 15 hectares for the development of its activities.
He explained that the institution will have specialty training “to continue giving more and more scientific and educational rank to coffee cultivation, in addition to uniting the knowledge of producers on a national and international scale.”
With this initiative, the Bolivarian Government seeks to consolidate Venezuelan coffee as a strategic item for the national economy and as an ambassador of quality in international markets, by integrating the experience of coffee growers with academic research and technological innovation.
