Decree published today (14) in the Official Gazette establishes that 38 municipalities affected by heavy rains or prolonged drought are under an emergency regime and may receive special resources from the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR).
According to the publication, the states of Bahia, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Espírito Santo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Minas Gerais have cities in these conditions.
Of the 38 municipalities listed in the decree, 19 belong to Rio Grande do Sul, which is experiencing a period of drought responsible for record temperatures.
The cities of Afonso Cláudio, in Espírito Santo, and Guidoval, in Minas Gerais, were classified in an emergency situation due to excessive rainfall.

emergency funds
With the publication of the decree establishing the state of emergency, the cities listed can now request resources to restore the infrastructure of the affected places and help the population.
To request the funds, municipal managers must fill in the necessary data in the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2iD). The registrations will be evaluated by technical teams, together with the restructuring plan and the necessary funds. Approval takes place through an ordinance to be published in the Official Gazette.
