President Gabriel Boric addressed his signature on Monday in the Agreement for Social Peace and the New Constitution, on November 15, 2019. The President signed the document for himself, without the consent of his Social Convergence party, which generated criticism within that community.
The head of state stated that “this was possible thanks to the mobilization of the people of Chile. Here for a long time there had been attempts to change the Constitution (…) as a result of the traps that the Constitution itself had, that was impossible.”

Boric highlighted the cases of the former presidents of the Commons and the Democratic Revolution, Javiera Bull and Catherine Perezor the deputy Paulina Nunez (RN).
He also spoke about the former senator Andrew Allamand. “You have to be on the opposite side of Allamand, because he tends not to push him. He was very much against it, and he didn’t want the right to sign.”
