“Specialized investigation and intelligence teams have been deployed, which have technological resources to monitor priority objectives and combat extortion crimes, as well as other high-impact crimes,” said García Harfuch.
He affirmed that the local police and State Prosecutor’s Office were strengthened with equipment and training, under the coordination and supervision of the federal government.
Among those detained is Pedro “N”, who was identified as a drug distributor, logistics operator, generator of violence and extortionist. During his detention, weapons, chargers, cartridges, and radio communication equipment were seized from him.
He also said that Jorge “N”, “El licensed”, was captured, who was identified as one of the intellectual authors of the murder of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, which occurred on November 1 during a Day of the Dead festival.
Another of those arrested was Jaciel Antonio “N”, who allegedly recruited people in rehabilitation centers to incorporate them into criminal cells.
According to reports, Jaciel allegedly recruited two people who were part of the cell responsible for the attack on Carlos Manzo, former mayor of Uruapan.
“The security of Michoacán is a national priority,” García Harfuch emphasized.
The secretary of the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, mentioned that various security actions were implemented in the state, but priority was given to Morelia, Uruapan, Zamora and Apatzingan.
“The actions that were taken to strengthen the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice, in terms of intelligence. An intelligence coordination center was integrated in the facilities of the 21st military zone based in Morelia. This has allowed the generation of 19 technical investigation orders, two tactical intelligence cells in Morelia and in Apatzigán to generate inputs that would allow the arrest of objectives that generate violence,” he explained.
He explained that military engineers will build a barracks for people from the National Guard in Uruapan, in addition to delivering Sedena cartridges and rifles to the municipal police.
The head of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), Raymundo Pedro Morales Sánchez, said that they located properties and laboratories in Jalisco where weapons, vehicles, drugs and chemical precursors were seized.
