The two Brazilians who reached the final of the Kitakyushu stage, in Japan, of the Street Skate World Cup were far from the podium. Giovanni Vianna and Wallace Gabriel from São Paulo finished in fifth and eighth place, respectivelythis Sunday’s competition (30), which was dominated by the home athletes.
The decision brought together the eight best athletes from the semifinal, held on Saturday (29). First, the skaters were evaluated on three laps around the track. Then, for three maneuvers. The final score was the sum of the scores for the best lap and maneuver. The event is worth points for the World Skate ranking, which defines those classified for the Los Angeles Olympics (United States) in 2028.
Giovanni obtained 163.40 points, thanks to 75.25 for the best rated lap and 88.15 for the best maneuver. Wallace, in turn, only scored 67.05 for one of the laps, as he did not score in the individual maneuvers.
The podium was 100% Japanese. The first two places repeated their semi-final classification, with Sora Shirai (170.27) in the lead and Kairi Netsuke (169.78) in second. Compatriot Yukito Aoki (165.91) completed the podium.
The women’s final was also dominated by Japan. First place went to Ibuku Matsumoto (160.51), followed by Yumeka Oda, just 22 tenths behind her rival. Australian Chloe Covell (155.60) was third. Pâmela Rosa and Isabelly Ávila, representatives from São Paulo at the event, were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Rayssa Leal from Maranhão did not compete in the tournament in Kitakyushu. The Olympic silver medalist at the Games in Tokyo, Japan, and Paris, France, prioritized completing high school in this final stretch of the year.
Rayssa, however, will be competing in the Super Crown, which is the final stage of Street League Skateboarding (SLS), considered the main circuit of the sport.
The competition will take place on December 6th and 7th, at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, in São Paulo. The capital of São Paulo will host the event for the fourth year in a row.
