Alarming warning. The president of the Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep)Jorge Zapata Ríos, asked citizens to be alert about the risk that in the coming general elections There is open interference by illegal economies, not only through campaign financing but also by placing their own candidates in Parliament.
The representative of the business union maintained that voters must remain “active and attentive” to the development of the electoral process so as not to leave the way clear to those who – he said – seek to act for their own benefit without thinking about the interests of the country.
“Illegal economies are willing to put their own actors in the State,” stressed Zapata, who related the expansion of the activities of these illegal economies to the increase in citizen insecurity in our country.
In this context, he maintained that the advance of these economies, added to the weakening of meritocracy in public institutions, could lead the country to a scenario of uncertainty.
The head of Confiep spoke at the Security Forum—promoted by Proética, IPYS, CIES and designed by Mosaico Lab Social—.
There he also highlighted the need to strengthen dialogue on citizen security through the creation, he indicated, of a multi-sector space that promotes trust and real solutions.
