3-2: Sergio Ramos reaches the semifinals in Mexico

Argentine Germán Berterame scored a header in injury time to make the Monterey in the first semi-finalist of the Opening of Mexican soccer, losing 1-2 in the duel against America and win the quarterfinal series 3-2. After Monterrey won the first leg 2-0, Alejandro Zendejas and the Colombian José Raúl Zúñiga scored for the Águilas, while Berterame scored for the royals, who played with pride in the last part of the duel with one less man on the field.

In their stadium, the Águilas went out in search of the goals they needed to qualify for the semifinal, but the Rayados maintained order and in the first minute were close to taking the lead. Jesús M. Corona took advantage of a mistake by Kevin Álvarez and was in front of the goal, but goalkeeper Ángel Malagón saved América. With Sergio Ramos as the leader in defense, Monterrey stood up well without stopping attacking. However, when the azulcremas seemed most tied up, Zendejas shot with his left foot from outside the angle and made it 1-0.

The Rayados pressed in search of an equalizer; They left space and at 45+2 they were close to scoring a second goal with a shot from Uruguayan Rodrigo Aguirre, hitting the post. After a first half played at a dizzying pace, the second half continued with both teams focused on the attack. Once again Monterrey held up well and again América shook off the pressure and in the 59th minute made it 2-0 with a right-footed goal that at that moment tied the series and put the Águilas in the semifinal for having finished better in the regular phase.

América continued forward, prowled the rival area and in the 84th minute was left with one more man on the field due to the expulsion of Jorge Rodríguez. When the Águilas had everything in their favor, Berterame appeared at 90+3 and scored 1-2 with a header that put the series 3-2 in favor of the Rayados, classified for the top four phase.
