The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) continued this week with its control operations migration at the national level, in the context of high commercial mobility through the Black Friday and pre-Christmas activities. As a result, 1,221 Haitian citizens in an irregular immigration situation were detained.
The institution reported this Saturday that of the total number of detainees, 955 were redirected to their country of origin under protocols of humanitarian care and assisted return.
The largest arrests were recorded on Friday in the National Districthe Greater Santo Domingo, Santiago de los Caballeros and the Eastern region, particularly in sectors such as:
- Manoguayabo
- Luperón Avenue
- Saint Helena
- Barahona
- San Marcos, Puerto Plata
Regarding territorial distribution, the DGM reported 165 arrests in it Greater Santo Domingo; 112 in Santiago de los Caballeros; 52 in La Vega; 34 in Mao and Santiago Rodríguez; 128 in the East Zone; 47 in Azua (Los Pilones); 31 in Barahona; 11 in Puerto Plata; and 59 in Montecristi.
In addition, 81 arrests were recorded in Dajabón; 43 in Elías Piña; 74 in Independencia and Jimaní; and 51 in Pedernales, for a total of 888 people arrested directly by Migration.
Additional arrests
To these figures are added 333 additional arrests carried out by other institutions in support of the DGM. He Dominican Republic Army reported 192 people arrested; the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (Cesfront), 99; and the National Police42.

Deportations
The 955 Haitian citizens deportees were returned by the binational border crossings. The breakdown by border point was as follows: 483 through Elías Piña, 325 through Dajabón, 117 through Jimaní and 30 through Pedernales, in coordination with the Haitian immigration authorities.
