President José Jerí Oré today supervised security and immigration control actions on the northern border with Ecuador, in Tumbes, accompanied by the secretary general of the Ministry of the Interior, Pedro Hernández.
During his visit to the Aguas Verdes district, he verified the police deployment, immigration protocols and surveillance posts of the National Police of Peru (PNP), with emphasis on prevent irregular income and illicit activities.
The tour included the Aguas Verdes police station and the Migration port, where the coordination between the PNP, the Armed Forces and the National Superintendence of Migration was highlighted. for a more efficient and safe migration flow. Jerí reaffirmed the government’s commitment to greater police presence, technological resources and collaboration with Ecuador against regional threats, including illegal migration and cross-border mining.
In addition, the president José Jerí announced that he will ask Congress to prioritize a constitutional reform so that the Armed Forces permanently protect the borders, freeing the PNP for internal security, and proposed eliminating restrictions on foreign investments in the first 50 km of the border to boost the local economy.
