IPAE Business Action expressed its firm rejection of the anti-competitive practices sanctioned by Indecopiinvolving 13 companies accused of arranging prices in public drug purchasing processes. The institution warned that these actions represent a serious attack against patients and violate the principle of Universal Health.
In a statement released this week, IPAE pointed out that the concertation of prices in state tenders constitutes “a serious breakdown of values” that artificially increases the costs of the health system and puts the timely supply of medicines at risk, especially affecting those who depend on them for critical treatments.
The business organization called on the authorities to, respecting due process, advance quickly in the investigations and strengthen the operational capacity of the public procurement system.
“It is essential that the Ministry of Health and the competent entities strengthen the operational capacity of the public purchasing system, in order to ensure efficient management that avoids shortage scenarios and guarantees transparency at each stage,” he stressed.
Likewise, IPAE reaffirmed the business sector’s commitment to integrity, fair competition and strict compliance with regulations. He emphasized that the fight against corruption requires decisive action from all actors, accompanied by effective technical guidance and oversight that guarantee a transparent market oriented toward equitable access to essential goods.
Finally, the institution assured that it will continue to promote multisector dialogue and the necessary reforms so that the country has a timely, reliable and people-centered health system.
“Universal Health will only be possible on the basis of solid institutions, responsible companies and citizens who trust that their rights are protected,” he concluded.
