The regional director of Education in the province of Santiago, Pedro Pablo Marteoffered statements this Saturday about the death of a 14-year-old student from the Simón Antonio Luciano Castillo Polytechniclocated in the Parada Siete sector, after being approached by journalists during the inauguration of a school in Hato del Yaque.
Mars confirmed that the event occurred outside the campus yesterday afternoon, Friday, and explained that the incident originated from a previous conflict among minors.
They investigate incident that left a student dead
The regional director pointed out that the case saddens deeply to the educational community and clarified that the Polytechnic is a center with good disciplinary record.
He reiterated that the incident did not occur inside the campusalthough he acknowledged the concerns raised by family members.
“The child’s relatives they say there is bandsbut not within the school, not within the center. They operate in the environment, but we cannot control that,” said Marte.
Authorities explain how the conflict began
The official assured that he received a first hand report about what happened and explained that the altercation arose from a struggle between the teenagers while they were playing on the field the day before.
“There was a struggle and a blow, and you know that these children get angry adrenalin. After they left, they looked for how to resolve a personal issue, and that’s when the incident occurred. It’s not for anything bands“, said.
He added that it is not possible check all students daily for weapons, as that action would require the legal presence of a prosecutor and a specialized equipment.
Report sent and case in hands of Public Ministry
Marte stated that Education sent the official report to the corresponding organizations and that, because the investigation is in the hands of the Public Ministrywill not offer any further statements on the judicial part.

About the drowned girl on an excursion
The regional director also referred to the death of the 11-year-old girl Stephora Anne-Mircie Josephwho lost his life in a swimming pool during a school outing attributed to the da Vinci schoolin the municipality of Gurabo.
He indicated that the cameras and the key elements are in the hands of the Public Ministry and that he Ministry of Education exhausted the corresponding process.
“We did the due descent to the center and the research of place. School trips are regulated and there is a exit protocol that the centers know and apply,” he said.
The authorities reiterated that they will maintain the collaboration with the Public Ministry as the progress progresses research.
