The Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Denisse Miralles, reported that they are currently developing the regulations for the entry of Special Economic Zones (ZEE) and highlighted the need for a roadmap for these spaces to move forward.
During a forum organized by the National Society of Industries (SNI), he reported that these SEZs will allow exporting companies to compete “on an equal basis” with international actors.
In that sense, he highlighted that these areas will allow employment to be generated “exponentially”, for this reason, he pointed out that it is important to lay the foundations so that the next government has structured plans and can promote these spaces.
Likewise, he highlighted that SEZs can become “true catalysts for development”, which is why he stated that the Executive is committed to their development to attract companies that need to generate efficiencies.
“No country can be competitive if it does not have logistics infrastructure,” he highlighted and indicated the idea is to have a logistics corridor capable of attracting all of South America and other countries in the world.
The head of the MEF also pointed out that the country “grows when trust is generated” and when opportunities open for those who want to invest. In this regard, he indicated that there is an ambition for global competition.
