The Management of the College of Sciences and Humanities (CCH) South, of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), reported yesterday the definitive suspension of the survey that would define the possible return to face-to-face classes. The decision was made after detecting technical failures that compromised the validity of the consultation process.
According to a statement from the campus authorities, there are inconsistencies in the register of students and teachers. These errors in the system allowed people outside the institution to access the vote, which violates the exclusivity of the exercise.
The management decided to organize a new consultation that guarantees the strict participation of members of the CCH Sur. While the new mechanisms are defined, classes will continue online.
The exercise, which began on Thursday, asked students and teachers if they agreed to resume in-person activities next Monday, December 1. The proposal arose after the implementation of improvements in the school’s security infrastructure, after on September 22 a student attacked another student with a knife, who lost his life in said event.
Benjamín Barajas, general director of the CCH, had previously indicated that the web form had digital locks. It was expected that access would be restricted only to those who had institutional email to avoid suspicions about the results.
