The National Front for the Defense of Economic and Social Rights of Panama warned, in a statement, that the US military escalation could unleash an attack against Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico and other countries in the region.
In a letter sent to the Panamanian Foreign Ministry, the entity indicated that at least 80 people have been extrajudicially executed by US forces under the alleged argument of the fight against drugs.
The organization highlighted that the US resorts “to a fictitious Cartel of the Suns, a recurring scheme in the administrations of the US governments since 1990 and which Trump uses to implicate the Bolivarian Government as a narco-state.”
“To justify an eventual aggression against Venezuela, then Colombia, Mexico and others, a fictitious “Cartel of the Suns” is used, a recurring ruse in the administrations of the US governments since 1990 and which Trump uses to implicate the Bolivarian Government as a narco-state even though the UN declared that that country does not have a relevant role in international drug trafficking,” Frenadeso added.
The Panamanian front affirmed that the supposed fight against drug trafficking in the Caribbean is another of the lies used by the United States, as they did in Iraq, Syria, Libya and other countries to justify invasions, such as the one that occurred in Panama on December 20, 1989.
He also recalled that, as part of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), Panama signed the Havana Declaration of 2012 that proclaimed Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace. This being so, the Panamanian Government must act accordingly.
