The diplomat Carlos Chávez-Taffur Schmidt He was appointed as the new ambassador of Peru in Bolivia. His appointment occurs as part of a process of return to relations between both nations. The designation was made official through Supreme Resolution, signed by the president of the republic, José Jeríand the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hugo de Zela.
The appointment comes after a period of three years during which diplomatic relations were maintained at the level of chargé d’affaires. The reactivation of the bilateral rapprochement between both border countries coincides with the recent inauguration of the new president of Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz.

According to information shared by the Foreign Ministry, Chavez-Taffur He has more than 40 years of diplomatic experience. Among his recent responsibilities is the organization of the 10th International Congress of the Spanish Language (CILE) in Arequipa, as well as the coordination of the APEC Peru 2024 Working Group.
