Venezuela extends condolences to the Chinese people for the tragedy in Hong Kong

Venezuela rejects the arrival of the "FPS One Guyana" ship in the Stabroek block

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, published a statement, in which it is expressed that Venezuela joins the mourning that the Chinese people are experiencing today, and sends his words of condolences and solidarity after the tragic fire that occurred in the Wang Fuk Court residential complex in the district of Tai Po, in Hong Kong.

This communication, published on the Telegram channel of Minister Yván Gil, highlights that “the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela extends its deepest condolences and solidarity to the brother Chinese people and government, following the tragedy that occurred in Hong Kong, caused by a fire that has so far caused 55 loss of human life and approximately more than 250 missing.”

Likewise, “the Venezuelan Government expresses its deep regret and wishes the consolation of the families of all the victims and extends its words of recognition to all those people who make an effort every minute in the rescue efforts.”

Finally, “the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, faithful to its principles of solidarity and brotherhood, expresses its support for the Chinese people in this difficult moment and hopes that this regrettable and painful event will be overcome.”

It should be noted that what began as a raging fire on Wednesday, November 26, has transformed into one of the worst tragedies of this type in the recent history of the region, with a death toll that underlines the magnitude of the disaster. For more than 24 hours, Hong Kong’s emergency services have maintained a grueling and relentless battle against the flames.

The Wang Fuk Court complex consists of seven blocks. Although the authorities have managed to report that the flames are under control in four of the blocks, the fight is fierce in the remaining three, where the fires persist tenaciously.

Hong Kong Police have arrested three men on serious suspicion of manslaughter. These individuals are allegedly involved in the origin of the fire.

Although the precise cause of the fire is still unknown, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee promised a full, swift and transparent investigation to determine responsibility and ensure that measures are taken to prevent a tragedy of this magnitude from happening again.
