The Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, pointed out that the country is under a “military blockade and siege” by the United States, but the Venezuelan military has “prepared” for these “threats.” “Do not make the mistake of attacking Venezuela, do not make the mistake of attacking the Venezuelan people because the people of Venezuela are ready, together with their Armed Forces, we are ready for anything, we are ready for combat, we are ready to die,” he warned.
The Minister of Defense, G/J Vladimir Padrino López, assured this Thursday the 27th that the National Armed Forces (FAN) is ready and willing “to respond to any aggression” coming from the United States, amid tensions over the US military deployment in the Caribbean.
“We are ready and willing to respond to any aggression,” stated Padrino López from an aerial demonstration in Maracay, Aragua state, for the anniversary of the Venezuelan Aviation and the 33rd anniversary of the military uprising of November 27, 1992.
The minister pointed out that the country is under a “military blockade and siege” by the United States, but the Venezuelan military has “prepared” for these “threats.” As in other speeches, Padrino López asserted that the actions of “imperialism” seek to appropriate, as he said, the country’s natural resources and install “a puppet.”
He asked the National Armed Forces, especially the Air Force, to be “alert” to external aggression, while sending a direct message to the United States.
“Do not make the mistake of attacking Venezuela, do not make the mistake of attacking the Venezuelan people because the people of Venezuela are ready, together with their Armed Forces, we are ready for anything, we are ready for combat, we are ready to die,” he warned.
Likewise, the Minister of Defense referred to the permissions of countries such as the Dominican Republic to use their airports within the framework of the operation against drug trafficking cartels. “The Caribbean wants to lend itself as a base of operations… There are genuflecting governments that lend themselves to militarizing the Caribbean, closing the Caribbean.”
He asked the leaders of Latin American countries to “stop acting contrary to the sentiments of their people. The people of Latin America and the Caribbean do not want war, they want peace, development, they want to emerge in this new world that is being born of equality, mutual respect between nations.
On the other hand, General Padrino López assured that “the Bolivarian revolution has been worth it” when referring to the attempted coup d’état in 1992, where military personnel close to Hugo Chávez rose up to overthrow former president Carlos Andrés Pérez. The attempt left, according to official figures, 171 dead (most of them civilians) and at least 95 military personnel injured.
He said that from the military establishment they are “convinced of the political leadership that we have, we are convinced, persuaded, of the moral leadership of President Nicolás Maduro in the midst of this threat.”
