AUF bets on the Bielsa project until the World Cup and detected “what needs to be corrected”
The idea that is being used to improve the relationship between the Argentine and footballers, given the public silence of the celestial references.
The Uruguayan Football Association issued a statement in which it confirms the continuity of Marcelo Bielsa, without even mentioning the doubt, until the next World Cup in 2026, and different actions are proposed to correct the problems that have arisen.
The 5-1 friendly defeat with the United States in Tampa unleashed a quake in the Celeste that generated a new instance in which the players used the member of the AUF Executive Committee, Matías Pérez, to express their discomfort in their relationship with the Argentine coach.
On Tuesday there was a meeting with Jorge Giordano, director of national teams, who gave his detailed report on the process and mainly on the last window of FIFA friendlies, and this Wednesday it was Bielsa’s turn, who association sources say was very convincing and detailed in his explanations.
There were four hours of exchange with Ignacio Alonso, Carlos Manta, Eduardo Mosegui and company, which got them on track and cleared up doubts about their stay with the Celeste.
THE COMMUNICATE
Hours after the end of the meeting At the Celeste Complex, the AUF released a statement that was forceful in its preaching and decision.
“The Executive Committee of the AUF and its president [Ignacio Alonso] “They have held meetings with the sports director and the coach of the senior team,” starts in its text.
“In them the current reality of the team in relation to the next World Cup was evaluated” and they went further: “Conclusions were obtained about what should be corrected. The steps to follow to implement the solutions that are considered necessary were also decided.”
The letter, in case of any type of doubt, is signed by Ignacio Alonso, Marcelo Bielsa and Jorge Giordano in another example of the chosen path, which, in addition, the president of the AUF himself stated upon leaving the meeting: “Stay with us.”
“The important thing is that, after all these conversations that we have had and that have also passed for days, there is no one who wants to jump off the boat or ask for heads. We are all in favor of the team getting up towards the World Cup, there are no resignations,” he pointed out.
THE PLAYERS
One of the solutions that were discussed to reconcile the distance between the players and Bielsa, recognized by the coach himself, is the option of adding one or two people at most to the coaching staff who fulfill the nexus function.
This is something that would have the approval of the Argentine and that we would also work to agree with the footballers to reach a meeting point. The idea generated is that this nexus is a facilitator for both parties when it comes to paving paths, forms of work and coexistence.
