Yesterday, the Government delivered 32 hemodialysis equipment and surgical instruments to strengthen free care for kidney patients in public hospitals in the country. For the acquisition of the equipment, the Executive invested 5,897,840 bolivianos.
The Minister of Health, Jeyson Auza, said that with the new equipment the Government reinforces the more than 320 machines that currently provide free care.
“In the name of President Luis Arce Catacora, we deliver these hemodialysis equipment and equipment for transplant services in the public subsector for an amount of 5,897,840 bolivianos,” he said.
The machines will be distributed in the following health establishments: Hospital de Clínicas de La Paz, Hospital Viedma de Cochabamba, El Carmen (La Guardia), Ignacio (Warnes) and Alegría (Santa Cruz) health centers. The Santa Bárbara Hospital (Chuquisaca) and the San Juan de Dios Hospital (Oruro) are added to the list.
Auza recalled that the national government does not focus all its attention on the pandemic because it is necessary to attend to different health pathologies.
“It might seem like just another action on World Kidney Day, but it is an important action because it is aimed at saving the lives of our people. On behalf of our president, I tell our kidney patients they are not alone, they have a president who will never abandon them,” he said.
In 2005, Bolivia only had five hemodialysis machines in the entire public sector. Currently, the country has more than 40 hemodialysis units nationwide with 324 machines purchased by the State.
