Judiciary sentences Betssy Chávez to 11 years and Aníbal Torres to 6 years for attempted coup d'état

Both former officials were considered co-authors of the crime of conspiracy by the Judiciaryalthough Torres received a lesser sentence due to his advanced age.

Not only Pedro Castillo will go to prison. Betssy Chávez and Aníbal Torres, both former prime ministers during Castillo’s administration, will be sentenced for the coup attempt. In the case of Chávez, the court determined a sentence of 11 years, 5 months and 15 days, while Torres will serve 6 years and 8 months behind bars. Both were identified by the Judiciary as co-authors of the crime of conspiracy.

Who was also sentenced was Willy Huerta, Pedro Castillo’s former Minister of the Interior during the attempted coup d’état.
