Christmas Bonus 2025: Government begins distribution for 2.6 million Dominicans

Santo Domingo Este.– The president Luis Abinader launched this Thursday Christmas Bonus 2025, an initiative with which the Government will impact 2.6 million Dominicans during the end of year festivities. The president urged the population to live Christmas as a time of unity, peace and strengthening of the family.

The event took place at the Invivienda Sports Center, where Abinader highlighted that Christmas is “the best setting to meet again, reflect and cultivate brotherhood.” He recalled that the family is the fundamental axis of society and stressed the importance of keeping traditions of closeness and solidarity alive.

“This is the moment of meeting between the people one loves, not only the blood family, but also the family that life has given us,” said the president, while inviting the country to welcome 2026 with hope, optimism and determination.

The head of state urged citizens to spend the holidays calm and in harmony. “Strengthen the family, which is the most important thing,” he said when wishing blessings and a Merry Christmas to all the Dominican people.

Physical and electronic delivery

Abinader detailed that the 2025 Christmas Bonus will be distributed in two modalities: physics and electronics. He explained that the Government delivered to the Social Cabinet 1.2 million physical bondsaimed mainly at the sectors with the greatest need, while the electronic mode will benefit 1.4 million peopleincluding families from the program Get over yourself.

The president highlighted that this combination of direct and digital delivery guarantees that support reaches those who really need it, based on studies of socioeconomic levels.

Likewise, he announced that the Directorate of Social Assistance (DAS) will distribute raw foods in previously identified communities, while the Economic Dining Rooms will reinforce Christmas dinners throughout the country.

Abinader thanked the community leaders for their participation in the distribution process, and recognized the progress of the year along with the challenges overcome

The fifth edition of the “Christmas Breeze” begins

The coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet, Tony Pena Guabareported the start of the fifth edition of the “Christmas Breeze”which will also impact 2.6 million people. He explained that the physical bonds are being channeled through neighborhood associations, fire departments, the Armed Forces, the National Police, local governments, the Catholic Church, Christian denominations, the National Congress, provincial governments and other social institutions.

The Office of the First Lady, the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency and the Presidency of the Republic also participate.

Peña Guaba stated that the Social Cabinet delivers the bonuses directly to the social fabric, including the National Board of the Blind, the Deaf-Mute Board, hospitals, kidney and heart patients, and people in vulnerable conditions.

“With this the Government demonstrates its social sensitivity, guaranteeing that the bonus reaches those who need it most,” he expressed.

Among those attending the event were the Vice Minister of Social Development of the Ministry of the Presidency, Alexis Jimenez; the mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Dio Astacio; the governor of the province of Santo Domingo, Lucrecia Leyba; and the director of National Assets, Rafael Burgos Gomez.

Simultaneous delivery in Cibao

In parallel, the vice president Raquel Pena He led the launch of the Christmas Bonus for the Cibao region in Santiago. There he stated that this aid was designed as direct support for Dominican homes to celebrate holidays with greater tranquility and dignity.

He defined the bonus as “a hug, a gesture of closeness and a reminder that the Government works so that no one is left behind, especially in a time as significant as this.”

“We want this bonus to reach those who really need it, to provide relief, to accompany and to ignite hope in each family,” said the vice president.
