The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (Inac) revoked the concession to six airlines that did not resume their operations in Venezuela “for joining the actions of state terrorism promoted by the US government.”
The announcement issued through the entity’s social networks on November 26, 2025, was published in the Official Gazette No. 43264 of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in which it mentions the following airlines:
Iberia Airlines of Spain SA
Portuguese Air Transport SA (TAP Portugal)
Aerovías del Continente Americano SA (AVIANCA)
Aerovías de Integración Regional SA (LATAM AIRLINES COLOMBIA)
Turkish Airlines
GOL Linhas Aereas SA
It should be noted that these airlines unilaterally suspended their commercial air operations to and from Venezuela, based on a Notam issued by an Aeronautical Authority without jurisdiction in the Maiquetía FIR.
The national government had given a period of 48 hours for these airlines to resume operations in the country after the suspension, which expired at noon on Wednesday, and they did not resume their itineraries.
For his part, the general secretary of the Psuv, Diosdado Cabello, asserted in his program “Con el Mazo Dando” broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), that “Venezuela does not threaten anyone, Venezuela is a sovereign country that decides who enters or leaves its territory,” he said in relation to the false news generated from abroad regarding the Venezuelan air closure supposedly ordered by the US government.
“The national government, in a sovereign decision, told the companies that if they did not resume flights within 48 hours, they should not resume them again: “keep your planes and we will keep our dignity,” he said, referring to the IBERIA airline.
He explained that the US issued a Notam on the airspace that includes other countries, not just Venezuela. “Those lines continue to fly to other countries without any problem, but suddenly they decided not to fly to Venezuela,” he commented.
It should be noted that the main national and international airlines that operate in Venezuela met this Monday, November 24, at the headquarters of the Inac with the Minister of Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, and other aeronautical authorities, with the aim of coordinating actions to guarantee the continuity and normality of air transport in the country.
The Ministry of Transportation, through a press release, reported that the central message of the meeting was confidence and security in operations by air service providers to passengers.
