Interprovincial bus overturns on the banks of the Mantaro River and leaves 24 injured on the Central Highway

A traffic accident recorded at 1:00 am this Thursday at km 66 of the Central Highway, Parco sector (Jauja-La Oroya), left 24 injured after the violent collision between an interprovincial bus and a truck.

The Expreso Nacional company bus, plate CTL-507, driven by Miguel Ángel Cuyubamba Arzapalo (46), had left Huancayo heading to Lima with all its seats occupied. While taking a sharp curve, he collided head-on with a SsangYong truck with license plate AON-247, driven by Jhonatan Eduardo Hurtado Ruiz (40).

As a result of the crash, the bus lost its way and ended up overturned on the banks of the Mantaro River, while the truck was left stuck in the ditch of the road. In the middle of the darkness, the first to help the passengers were drivers and travelers who were passing through the area.

Minutes later, the Jauja, Huancayo, El Tambo and La Oroya Fire Company, and the Acolla Highway Police, arrived at the scene and transferred the injured to the Domingo Olavegoya Hospital. Most have minor injuries and some have serious injuries. So far, no deaths have been reported.
