The Ministry of Transportation assured this Wednesday that The United States requested “special permits” to operate repatriation routes with US aircraftafter the arrival of an Eastern Airlines aircraft with 175 migrants deported.
The State portfolio criticized that the request was made while The US urges foreign airlines to suspend flights to Venezuelaafter the Federal Aviation Administration recommended “extreme caution” when flying over Venezuelan territory for one “potentially dangerous situation” in the region.
“The arrival of this aircraft demonstrates the security of our airspacedespite the narrative of Donald Trump’s government, which imposes restrictions on foreign airlines that maintain commercial flights to Venezuela,” indicated the Ministry.
The government anticipated that “In the coming days new flights will arrive under the same repatriation scheme”in the middle of the crisis due to the massive cancellation of international flights.
Since Saturday, several airlines have suspended its flights in Venezuelaas Air Europa, Plus Ultra, Iberia, TAP, Avianca, Gol and Latam.
For now, Copa, Wingo, Boliviana de Aviación, Satena, Avior and Conviasa maintain operations.
The Venezuelans Laser and Stellar reported the suspension of flights to Madrid until December 1after warnings from the Spanish Aeronautical Authority.
This Wednesday expired within 48 hours granted by the Government so that airlines resume their operationswithout confirming yet if “permanent flight” permits will be revoked or some sanction will be applied.
At least 6,000 passengers who had planned to travel between Madrid and Caracas have been affected.
