The Swiss Government generally advises against any travel to Venezuela, both for tourism and for any non-urgent reason, and specifically noted that it is risky to visit certain parts of the country.

At least 12 airlines have suspended their flights to Venezuela, after the United States issued an alert to air operators about potential risks when flying in the Maiquetía Flight Information Region (SVZM FIR), due to the “worsening security situation and increased military activity in or around Venezuela.”

Given this circumstance, the Swiss government warned its citizens that consular assistance could be severely limited.

Switzerland’s recommendation is added to that made this Tuesday the 25th by Poland, as well as those made in previous days by the governments of South Korea and Germany, who also advise their citizens to leave Venezuelan territory and avoid traveling to the borders.
