Prosecutor Saab reiterates that Venezuela does not produce cocaine or marijuana

The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reiterated that Venezuela is a territory where cocaine or marijuana is not produced, regarding the campaign maintained by the United States Government by accusing the nation of being a drug producer and serving as a bridge for drug trafficking.

During a management review of the last eight years and in celebration of the 56th anniversary of Public Ministry Day, Saab highlighted the work carried out by the Venezuelan State to combat this scourge.

«Venezuela does not produce cocaine or marijuana. “Through this territory, according to figures from the UN and international organizations, less than 5% of the drugs heading to the US attempt to circulate.”

In that sense, he reiterated that 95% of the drugs that go north leave through the Pacific Ocean, particularly passing through Colombia, Peru and Bolivia, as well as Ecuador, while those that go to Europe transit through Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil.

«The Paraná River is one of the keys. Nothing to do with the Orinoco River, nothing to do with the Neverí River in Barcelona, nothing to do with the Guaire River. The Paraná River, the epicenter of drug trafficking, is in Paraguay, in the waterway corridor, a channel that crosses 3,400 kilometers of these countries. What does this have to do with Venezuela? “They have to be inventing this whole narrative with the excuse of attacking and invading our country,” said Saab.

Condemnation of alleged fight against drug trafficking

Likewise, he rejected the attack perpetrated by the United States on some 20 boats in the Caribbean and the Pacific, murdering some 80 people under the excuse of fighting drug trafficking without any evidence.

He pointed out that these actions are crimes against humanity, and stressed that they have violated international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the use of lethal force against a civilian ship in international waters.

He highlighted that the first Capital Command, a Brazilian criminal organization that has more than 40,000 members in 24 countries, is the one that controls trafficking from producing nations to Brazil, Argentina and Europe.

On the other hand, he said that the Gulf Clan and the Sinaloa Cartel mostly dominate drug trafficking to the United States.

He said that according to the FB, in the US there are about 33,000 violent gangs with approximately 1.4 million members who are responsible for the distribution of drugs internally, stating that this has nothing to do with Venezuela.
