SANTO DOMINGO.— The Public Ministry arrested, together with the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and with the support of the Specialized Airport Security Corps (Cesac) and Immigration inspectors, a man wanted for his alleged connection with a shipment of 1,360 packages of cocaine seized in San Pedro de Macorís.
It is about Alejandro José Sarita Peraltaarrested by court order AJ0037712 at Las Américas International Airport (AILA) when trying to leave the country on a commercial flight bound for New York, United States.
In June 2025, the DNCD, together with the Navy and the Air Force, occupied a shipment of 1,360 packages of cocaine (more than 1.3 tons) during a joint operation carried out on the coast of the province of San Pedro de Macorís. In the operation, a boat with three outboard motors was also confiscated, 46 bags of drugsthree bales of marijuana, fuel tanks, two SUVs, a truck and a 5.56 caliber rifle charger, among other evidence.
Sarita Peralta will be presented in the next few hours before the Permanent Attention Court of San Pedro de Macoríswhere the Public Ministry will request coercive measures for violation of the Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances.
The authorities continue to pursue others involved in the shipment seized on June 10, 2025an operation that occurred in the middle of an exchange of gunfire.
