Sustainable design

An important award was received by an entrepreneur from Melense

AZIZA was part of the awards ceremony organized annually by Plataforma Diseñorte TV, with awards to the creative industries.

This initiative aims to highlight the importance of the industry and national production, making visible collective and individual projects that stand out for their trajectory, innovative processes, materials used, social and environmental impact, international projection and encouragement of emerging designers.

On this occasion, AZIZA received recognition in the Sustainable Design category. The award was presented at the ceremony that took place on November 19 in the Hugo Balzo Room of the SODRE National Auditorium.

“AZIZA is a triple impact enterprise. Environmentally, we recycle containers, so far we have recycled more than 3,000. What I make is sustainable jewelry, unique pieces that have presence and that in turn have a purpose because I work with that philosophy that small actions added together can generate changes. There is also that beauty can emerge even from the least expected, such as a container, from something discarded.” held Silvia Ferreira.

“Socially, I give workshops in institutions and companies with the idea of talking about that beauty and also about entrepreneurship with purpose” told to THE DIARY PROFESSIONAL.

10 YEARS ON THE MARKET

The Entrepreneurship has already been in business for a decade, first focused on the manufacture of handbags and now, for about two years, dedicated to the manufacture of jewelry from disused plastic containers.

“A few days ago, in the Hugo Balzo Room at SODRE, they gave me recognition for Sustainable Design 2025” reported.

“AZIZA is unique with these characteristics at a national level, it has even been difficult for me to position it. I am with the idea of starting to expand it, to scale” he stated.

Silvia Ferreira commented that she has had contacts with colleagues and businessmen from abroad where they have been very receptive to incorporating this system. “Although I have had a lot of support here, there are many tools in the country that help this issue transcend, I also have interested parties outside the country” he assured.

THEY ALLOW THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO BE VISIBILIZED

“The recognitions are nice and important, but they also give visibility to an enterprise that is from the interior. I always say that I am from Melo, from Cerro Largo, grateful for these opportunities to give it visibility because finding a little place in a market that is so saturated is not easy” he stated.

As for the containers, he said that they come into his hands through friends and acquaintances who keep them. “The party venues, for example, collaborate a lot, Caio is always bringing me together, and then he also bought them from collectors, which is a way of generating income for other people and also taking care of the carbon footprint because they look for them on a bicycle or walking. We take into account that value chain that is never 100% friendly to the environment, but at least in certain things we take care.” said Silvia Ferreira.

This is a way to reuse packaging that generally does not end up in a recycling plant. “When we deposit them in a dump truck we never know where they are going to end up and many times they end up in the beds of our rivers, streams and oceans. All of this pollutes the environment. A container takes up to 500 years to degrade” revealed the main one of AZIZA.

FORM A TEAM TO CONTINUE GROWING

The already prepared products are sold in a local boutique and in the entrepreneur’s own workshop. “I have a website that is www.azizauruguay and in Montevideo, in Punta Carretas, in a multi-brand “Don’t tell him” reported.

The way is to continue working on the issue. “The product is like a single leg because I study a lot about the subject. I am putting together a team because I have also realized that there are things that I cannot do alone no matter how much I study and I am passionate about all this. To grow you have to get together with the right people” Silvia Ferreira, creator of AZIZA, finished saying.
