As if spirit had returned to this present, his last moments of life, his profile and career, his feelings and other details of his career were evoked on television this Tuesday. Compadre Carlos Palenque died 25 years ago and unleashed an avalanche of pain, but it also marked a milestone in the history of Bolivia.
Verónica Palenque, the daughter of one of the most important populist leaders of the last century, installed a “tribune” in the style of the one her father led at the station that precisely pays homage to her.
In Palenque TV, the descendants of the compadres and comadres who were part of his life and the Tribuna Libre del Pueblo met this Tuesday.
Fall, one of the sons of Palenque; Sayuri Loza, the daughter of Remedios Loza; Kory Paco, the son of Adolfo Paco; and other people who promoted this social project spoke about his life to the rhythm of the huayños and cullaguadas that the “walker” performed before becoming a communicator and one of the most influential politicians in the country.
“He has left us with an empty heart, but he is enlightening us. He has been a father to all of us”, said one of the workers of “la tribuna”.
They also remembered his enormous contribution in communication, in music, but above all in politics as leader of Conciencia de Patria (Condepa) and the “condepistas”.
In a passage of the program, Cae was encouraged to show a tattoo that he has on the lower part of his back that outlines one of the phrases that sealed the life of the “compadre”: “Don’t talk to me about her.”
Palenque died suddenly on a day like today in 1997 from a heart condition. He had left in the middle of a complex relationship with comadre Mónica.

His followers cried to exhaustion as they did this Tuesday when remembering his memory.
“El compadre”, agreed those who knew him, has left a deep mark on thousands of lives.
Similar criteria have been expressed by those interviewed by the RTP System, the Palenque communication project that is now directed by his son Jorge Luis Palenque.
In the streets of La Paz and El Alto his name is still loudly heard. The phrases that immortalized the populist leader are remembered with great emphasis.
“There is always a pain because it has been 25 years since he left us, if he had been alive he would have been a great leader, that was for sure,” said a merchant.
This Tuesday, his tomb located in the General Cemetery of La Paz was filled with flowers to the rhythm of prayers and his songs that ended with a “thank you compadre”.
