FIFA announces pots for the 2026 World Cup group draw

FIFA announced this Tuesday (25) the division of the pots for the draw for the groups for the first phase of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held on December 5th in Washington (United States). The Brazilian team is in pot 1, along with the other seeded teams in the competition.FIFA announces pots for the 2026 World Cup group draw

“The final draw procedures establish that the host countries – Canada, Mexico and the United States – will be allocated to pot 1. The other 39 classified teams will be distributed among the four pots of 12 teams each, according to the FIFA Men’s World Ranking published on November 19, 2025. Finally, the two places for the 2026 World Cup repechage tournament, as well as the four places for the repechage European Championship, will be allocated to pot 4”, informed FIFA in an official statement.

Pot 1: Canada; Mexico; USA; Spain; Argentina; France; England; Brazil; Portugal; Netherlands; Belgium; Germany

Pot 2: Croatia; Morocco; Colombia; Uruguay; Switzerland; Japan; Senegal; IR of Iran; Republic of Korea; Ecuador; Austria; Australia

Pot 3: Norway; Panama; Egypt; Algeria; Scotland; Paraguay; Tunisia; Ivory Coast; Uzbekistan; Qatar; Saudi Arabia; South Africa

Pot 4: Jordan; Cape Verde; Ghana; Curaçao; Haiti; New Zealand; places A, B, C and D in the European playoff; places 1 and 2 of the FIFA Qualifying Tournament

FIFA will draw the groups for the 2026 World Cup on December 5th, starting at 2pm (Brasília time).
