A protester attacked the governor of Biobío, Rodrigo Diazduring this day in the middle of a meeting with opponents about the Rucalhue Hydroelectric Power Plant.
In the activity were four regional counselors, the regional authority in question and four protesters in the offices of the government.
When Díaz was talking with the protesters, a woman pointed out that “we pay for the most expensive electricity in Chile and they have three dams for us. This is the fourth and nobody has cared about it, only us who are here”.
After that, they continued arguing when the protester proceeded to insult him, to then throw water and then the bottle at the governor without hitting him. The woman was arrested.
The Prosecutor’s Office already has the complaint filed for an attack on the authority and the Public Ministry has already fixed the domicile of the detainee for further investigation.

The government condemned the attack.
Through a statement, the Biobío Regional Government condemned the events that occurred this afternoon in its offices.
“As the Regional Government of Biobío we repudiate this violent, malicious and extremely serious action, which only seeks to hinder the healthy democratic dialogue between social actors and representatives of the public world,” they indicate in the document.
In addition, they denied the existence of police officers infiltrated the meeting before the accusation by the protesters.
“The Regional Government reserves the right to present the corresponding legal actions in the face of the serious events that have occurred,” the statement concludes.
