Emilia Ceballos returns to Colombia with a character full of intrigue, secrets and an acting transformation that promises to captivate everyone.
Canal RCN premieres this week ‘The Substitute’, his new original production written by the maestro Julio Jimeneza series that promises suspense, intrigue, secrets and quite complex characters.
The expectation is high and, therefore, we speak with Emilia Ceballosone of the protagonists, who returns to the country to take on one of the most important acting challenges of her career.
Ceballos plays Sergeant Beatriza character who, at first glance, seems rigid, disciplined and absolutely committed to the police institution. However, as occurs in Jiménez’s stories, Appearances are deceptive.
“You are going to find characters that appear to be one thing and end up being really very complex, full of secrets and lies,” explained the actress, in an interview with RCN Radio.
For her, the arrival of ‘La Subtituta’ coincides with a momentous moment in your professional life. “I think it comes at the most beautiful moment of my life and my career. It is the opportunity to create suspense, something I had never explored before. This genre requires a very special level of containment: The look, the silences, the pauses… everything speaks of the character”, he said.

How did you prepare to bring your character to life?
In his preparation, Ceballos wanted dive deep into the police universe. To achieve this, he relied on family members who are part of the National Police, who helped him understand codes, ways of communicating and ways of relating within the institution.
That understanding was key to building the tension between his character and that of Julián Románwith whom he shares intense scenes.
The actress also highlighted the experience of working with figures such as Majida Issawith whom he had already shared the screen in ‘Sin Senos’ and ‘Leandro Díaz’. “Mayida is a generous actress, a wonderful human being. In this production she has a very tough, very bad character, but watching her work is always a learning experience,” he said. He also celebrated the professionalism of Geraldine Civic, Julian Roman and the rest of the cast.
Although he currently resides in Miami for two years, where he participated in the series ‘Velvet of the New Empire’, Emilia does not hide her excitement at returning to the country with such a powerful project.
“I always miss Colombia. I love working here. I feel proud to be Colombian and I am excited to see that our country is becoming a epicenter of audiovisual creation”, he stated.

Regarding what he hopes for the future, he confesses that he is already carrying out castings and in conversations with his manager, well 2026 promises to be full of opportunities.
Even so, he is clear about the type of characters he wants to continue playing: strong, resilient women, with authority and character. “I love characters with strength, who are empowered, who represent life and resistance,” he said.
It is worth mentioning that the public will be able to enjoy ‘La Subtituta’ from the November 26 at 8 pm on Canal RCNa series where, according to the actress, “nothing is what it seems”. Suspense, action, secrets and deep characters make up this story designed to keep viewers connected from beginning to end.
