Hundreds of miners, millers, merchants and other sectors of the town center of La Rinconada and Lunar de Oro, district of Ananea, province of San Antonio de Putina (Puno), embarked on an indefinite strike, demanding that the Mining Corporation and the Central Mining Cooperatives restart operations.
The first week of October, mining operators decided to paralyze activities due to insecurity, leaving thousands of miners without a job option. After the mobilizations and work tables with the authorities, on November 17 they agreed to restart activities gradually; However, the promises were not fulfilled, leading to the start of the strike.
Within the framework of the aforementioned fight measure, hundreds of protesters this Tuesday They staged sit-ins and demonstrations in La Rinconada, showing desperation due to the difficult economic situation that thousands of miners and workers in other sectors are experiencing.
“We have been out of work for two months now, they promised us to restart, but nothing,” pointed out a Pallaquera woman. In the afternoon, the strikers held a rally in the main square of La Rinconada and announced to continue with the measure of force until they resume their work.

While the directors of the Central of Mining Cooperatives and Mining Cooperation arrived at the premises of the Regional Directorate of Energy and Mines in Puno, in order to meet with the officials of the entity to address the issue; However, they would not have found the head of the institution.
